Dr. Maria Costa began her career with the Ludlow Public Schools in October 2000 when she was appointed the School Psychologist at Veterans Park School, remaining in this position until July 2015 when she was named the Elementary Special Education Supervisor.
Prior to moving to Massachusetts, she worked as a school psychologist for the Elmont Union Free School District and as a case manager at a psychiatric clinic on Long Island, New York.
Costa earned her Bachelor of Arts with a dual major in psychology and sociology from Long Island University- C.W Post. Her Master of Science in School Psychology was earned at St. John’s University in Queens, New York, and her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) through the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2016.
As a psychologist and administrator, she believes it is important to educate and inspire in everyone a passion for life-long learning and that all children are unique and have something special that they can bring to their own education.
Dr. Costa is the proud mother of Anthony and Michael.
