A colorful graphic promoting breakfast with the text 'Got Breakfast. A healthy start keeps you smart.'

Research confirms that breakfast is the most important meal of the day for children’s health, academic achievement, cognitive development and mental health. Unfortunately, many children regularly skip breakfast each morning, depriving them of the important benefits associated with the morning meal. We would encourage all parents to ensure that their children receive a healthy breakfast prior to arriving to school or that they purchase the breakfast offered at their school.

The benefits of healthy eating add up over time, bite by bite. Small changes matter. Start Simple with MyPlate.

A healthy eating routine is important at every stage of life and can have positive effects that add up over time. It’s important to eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, protein foods, and dairy and fortified soy alternatives. When deciding what to eat or drink, choose options that are full of nutrients. Make every bite count.Click here to learn more from the USDA MyPlate website.
